Quick answer: Anne Frank House tickets cost about €16.50 for adults, €7 for ages 10–17 and €1 for under-10s. They’re sold only on annefrank.org — there are no tickets at the door. New tickets are released every Tuesday at 10:00 Amsterdam time for the whole week six weeks later, and popular slots sell out within minutes. The museum is open 9:00–22:00 every day.

The Anne Frank House is Amsterdam’s most moving museum: the canal house where Anne Frank, her family and four others hid for two years during the Second World War, and where she wrote her diary. It’s also the hardest ticket in the city to get. This guide explains exactly how the release works and what to do if it’s sold out. Details are from Amsterdam Tourism (updated October 2026); always confirm on the official site, annefrank.org.

Ticket prices (2026)

Visitor Price (approx.)

How the ticket release works

  1. Every Tuesday at 10:00 (Amsterdam time), the museum releases all tickets for the week that is six weeks ahead.
  2. Set a reminder for 9:55, open annefrank.org on a computer (faster than a phone) and choose your date.
  3. Have two or three time slots in mind — early morning or after 19:00 are easier to get.
  4. Enter the names of all visitors and pay. Your e-ticket arrives by email.

Example: to visit during the week of 1 March, book on the Tuesday six weeks before, in mid-January.

Sold out? What to do

  • Check daily for returns: cancelled tickets go back on sale, especially in the week before your visit.
  • Try late evening slots: the museum is open until 22:00.
  • Avoid resellers and street sellers: tickets are personal and only valid from the official site.
  • Alternatives: a guided walking tour of the Jordaan and the Jewish Quarter tells Anne Frank’s story outside the house, and the National Holocaust Museum and Jewish Museum are nearby. Compare Amsterdam history and walking tours.

Opening hours

Daily from 9:00 to 22:00, all year. Hours are shorter or the museum is closed on a few days, such as New Year’s Day, King’s Day (27 April), 4 May (Remembrance Day), Christmas and Yom Kippur. Check the calendar when booking.

What to expect

  • You walk through the warehouse and offices, then climb steep stairs behind the movable bookcase into the Secret Annex.
  • The rooms are unfurnished, as Otto Frank wished, but photos and quotes bring them to life.
  • The original diary is displayed in the museum.
  • Allow about an hour; download the free audio guide app before you go.
  • Photography is not allowed inside.
  • Bags must be smaller than an A4 sheet; there are no lockers.
  • The Annex isn’t wheelchair accessible (steep stairs), but the modern part of the museum is.

Getting there

The museum is at Prinsengracht 263–267, on the edge of the Jordaan, a 15–20 minute walk from Centraal Station; trams 13 and 17 stop at Westermarkt. Combine it with the Westerkerk next door, a canal cruise and the Jordaan’s cafés — see our Amsterdam itinerary.
