Spring and early summer
The parks bloom, the Prater turns green and coffee-house terraces fill up. It’s ideal for walking and for Schönbrunn‘s gardens.
Summer
Warm days are perfect for the Danube Island, the canal bars and the free open-air Film Festival at Rathausplatz. Note that the State Opera usually pauses performances in July and August.
Autumn
The vineyards around Vienna celebrate the harvest, the Heurigen are at their best, and the concert season restarts. October is our favourite month.
Winter: Christmas markets and balls
From mid-November, the city glows with Christmas markets. January and February bring the ball season, with hundreds of balls, including the famous Opera Ball. Hotels are cheaper after New Year.
