Lisbon has one of Europe’s most central airports, so getting into town is quick and cheap. This guide compares every option with 2026 prices from Wego (July 2026), and explains how to use public transport in the city.
All options compared
| Option | Price (2026) | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro (red line) | €1.90 + €0.50 card | About 20 min to Saldanha; change for Baixa | Light luggage, budget |
| Bus 783 | €1.90 (card) / €2.30 on board | 30–45 min | Some hotels on the route |
| Taxi | About €10–20 (more at night and weekends) | 15–25 min | Groups, luggage |
| Uber / Bolt | About €10–15 | 15–25 min | Price shown upfront |
| Private transfer | Varies | 15–25 min | Late arrivals, families |
Metro: cheap and simple
The red line starts at the Aeroporto station outside Terminal 1. Buy a Navegante card (€0.50) at the machines and load either a single ticket (€1.90) or “Zapping” credit (€1.72 per ride). Change at Alameda for the green line to Baixa-Chiado, Rossio and Cais do Sodré, or at São Sebastião for the blue line to Avenida da Liberdade and Marquês de Pombal. With big suitcases, the stairs and crowded carriages can be hard work.
Taxi, Uber and Bolt
Official taxis wait outside arrivals. Fares are metered and higher at night, weekends and holidays; most trips to the centre cost €10–20. Uber and Bolt pick up from a dedicated area at Terminal 1 and show the price before you book. If you arrive at Terminal 2 (some low-cost airlines), take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1 for the metro. Compare Lisbon airport transfers.
