  2. Book early: 1–2 weeks ahead for regular weekdays; 3–4 weeks for weekends and holidays such as cherry blossom season, Golden Week and Obon.

What to wear at teamLab Planets

  • You’ll be barefoot — shoes and bags go in free lockers.
  • Wear trousers you can roll above the knee; in some rooms the water reaches knee height (source).
  • Avoid skirts and dresses — several rooms have mirrored floors.
  • Towels are provided after the water rooms.

At Borderless the floors are dry, but comfortable shoes help in the dark, sloped rooms.

How to get there

  • teamLab Planets: about 1 minute from Shin-Toyosu Station (Yurikamome line), or 10 minutes’ walk from Toyosu Station (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho line); about 15 minutes by taxi from Tokyo Station (source).
  • teamLab Borderless: at Azabudai Hills, near Kamiyacho Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya line) — closer to central Tokyo.

Combine Planets with the Toyosu fish market area or an evening in Odaiba; Borderless pairs well with Roppongi and Tokyo Tower.

Tips for a great visit

  1. Go at opening or in the last slots for fewer people in your photos.
  2. Charge your phone — and keep it in a waterproof pouch at Planets.
  3. Kids love it: under-3s are free, and Planets’ fixed route is easy with children.
  4. Allow travel time: entry slots are strict.

Is teamLab worth it?

For most visitors, yes — it’s unlike any museum elsewhere, great on rainy days and fun at any age. If you only have three days in Tokyo, choose one: Planets for the water rooms and photos, Borderless for a longer, more exploratory visit.
