Quick answer: the best time to visit Marrakech is March–May and October–November: warm days (about 23–29°C), cool evenings and comfortable sightseeing. June–September is very hot (often 37°C+ in July–August). December–February has mild, sunny days (about 18–20°C) but cold nights — bring a jacket, and choose a riad with heating. During Ramadan, the city is calmer by day and festive after sunset.

Marrakech has a semi-arid climate with lots of sunshine and little rain. Temperature is what changes most — from chilly winter nights to scorching summer afternoons. This guide goes month by month.

Seasons explained

Spring (March–May)

The most popular season: warm days, blooming gardens and snow still on the Atlas peaks. Book riads early for Easter. A great time for Jardin Majorelle and Atlas day trips.

Summer (June–September)

Very hot in the city — sightsee early, rest in your riad’s courtyard or pool in the afternoon, and go out again after sunset. Prices for riads and hotels are lower. The desert is extremely hot; the Atlas Mountains offer cooler escapes.

Autumn (October–November)

Excellent: warm, dry days and pleasant evenings, ideal for the medina, the Atlas and the Sahara.

Winter (December–February)

Sunny and mild by day, cold at night. The snowy Atlas makes beautiful views. Christmas and New Year are busy with European visitors.

Ramadan

Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar, so it moves about 11 days earlier each year (around February–March in 2027). Sights stay open with shorter hours, some restaurants close by day, and the evenings after iftar are lively and festive. Eat and drink discreetly in public during daylight. It can be a rewarding time to visit.
