What to see
Palacio de Pedro I
The heart of the Alcázar, built in the 14th century by Moorish craftsmen for a Christian king. Don’t miss the Patio de las Doncellas with its sunken garden and the golden-domed Hall of the Ambassadors.
Patio del Yeso and Gothic Palace
The oldest Almohad remains, and grand halls lined with tiles and tapestries.
Baths of Doña María de Padilla
Atmospheric vaulted rainwater cisterns under the palace, a favourite for photos.
The gardens
Terraces, fountains, pavilions, a maze, palm trees and peacocks. Fans will recognise the Water Gardens of Dorne from Game of Thrones.
Tips for visiting
- Book the first slot of the day for the quietest courtyards.
- Enter through the Puerta del León and arrive 15 minutes before your slot.
- Do the palace first, then relax in the shady gardens.
- In summer, the gardens get very hot by midday; bring water.
Combine it with the Cathedral next door: Cathedral and Giralda tickets.
