What to see

The Giralda

The cathedral’s bell tower was once the minaret of the city’s great mosque. Climb 35 gentle ramps (built so guards could ride up on horseback) for views over the rooftops.

Tomb of Christopher Columbus

Four giant figures representing the kingdoms of Spain carry Columbus’s coffin.

The Capilla Mayor altarpiece

One of the largest altarpieces in the world, covered in gilded carvings.

Patio de los Naranjos

The orange-tree courtyard, the former mosque’s ablution courtyard, is where your visit usually ends.

Church of El Salvador

Seville’s second-largest church, a short walk away, with a stunning Baroque interior; included with your ticket.

Tips

  • Cover shoulders and avoid very short shorts; it’s a working church.
  • Arrive at opening time or late afternoon for fewer crowds.
  • Allow about 1.5–2 hours, including the Giralda.
  • Visit the Alcázar next door the same day. See Real Alcázar tickets.
