Quick answer: Seville is Andalusia’s sunny, romantic capital: the Real Alcázar palace, the huge Cathedral and Giralda tower, Plaza de España, orange-tree squares and nightly flamenco. Book the Alcázar (€15.50) and Cathedral (€13 online) in advance. The EA airport bus costs €6 and a taxi about €25–30. Go in spring (March–May) or autumn (October–November); July and August often pass 40°C.

Plan 2–3 days for the city and one more for a day trip to Córdoba. The centre is compact and flat, ideal for walking.

Getting around

Most sights are within a 20-minute walk. TUSSAM buses cost €1.40 a ride, a single tram line runs through the centre, and one metro line links the suburbs. Bikes (Sevici) and taxis are easy too. Avoid driving in the old town: much of it is restricted.

Airport to the city

Seville Airport (SVQ) is about 10 km from the centre. The EA bus costs €6 one way (€8 return) and takes about 35 minutes to Plaza de Armas, stopping near Santa Justa station and Prado de San Sebastián. Taxis charge a fixed fare of roughly €25–30, depending on the time and day. Details: Seville Airport to the city.

Day trips from Seville

  • Córdoba: the Mezquita-Cathedral, 45 minutes by high-speed train. See Córdoba day trip.
  • Itálica: Roman ruins and amphitheatre 20 minutes away.
  • Ronda: a dramatic clifftop town with a famous bridge.
  • Cádiz: an ancient port city with beaches, 1.5 hours by train.

Best time to visit Seville

Spring is magical but busy: Semana Santa (21–28 March 2027) and the Feria de Abril (planned for 13–18 April 2027). Autumn is warm and calmer. Summer is extremely hot; winter is mild and sunny. Month by month: best time to visit Seville.

Spain is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU visitors now register in the EU Entry/Exit System on arrival; see our ETIAS and EES guide. Many places close or slow down from about 2 to 5pm; Sevillanos eat lunch late and dinner after 9pm.
