Prague Itinerary: 2, 3 or 4 Days (2026 Day-by-Day Plan)

A day-by-day Prague itinerary for 2 to 4 days: the Old Town, the castle, Malá Strana, Vyšehrad and the best day trips.

Updated October 26, 2026 · 3 min read
Quick answer: Day 1: the Old Town, the Astronomical Clock, Josefov, and the Charles Bridge at sunset. Day 2: the Charles Bridge at sunrise, Malá Strana, Prague Castle, then Petřín. Day 3: the New Town, Vyšehrad, a river cruise and the Letná beer garden. Day 4: a day trip to Kutná Hora or Český Krumlov.

Prague’s sights are close together, so you can see a lot on foot. This plan keeps each day in one area and puts the busiest spots early in the morning.

Day 1: Old Town and Josefov

Time Plan
Morning The Powder Tower and Municipal House, then Old Town Square and the Týn Church.
Late morning The Astronomical Clock show on the hour, then up the Old Town Hall tower.
Afternoon The Jewish Quarter: synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery.
Evening Sunset on the Charles Bridge, then dinner in a traditional beer hall.

Day 2: The castle and Malá Strana

Time Plan
Early The Charles Bridge at sunrise, while it’s quiet.
Morning Walk up through Malá Strana to Prague Castle: St Vitus, the Royal Palace and Golden Lane (tickets).
Afternoon Lunch in Malá Strana, then St Nicholas Church, the Wallenstein Garden, Kampa and the Lennon Wall.
Evening Petřín Hill lookout, then dinner in Malá Strana.

Day 3: New Town, Vyšehrad and the river

Start at Wenceslas Square and the National Museum, then walk past the Dancing House to Vyšehrad for the views and the cemetery. In the afternoon, take a river cruise or rent a paddle boat. End at the Letná beer garden for sunset over the bridges.

Day 4 (optional): A day trip

Kutná Hora, with the Sedlec Ossuary and St Barbara’s Cathedral, is about 1 hour away by train. Český Krumlov is a fairy-tale town about 3 hours away, so a tour is easiest. See the best day trips from Prague.

FAQ: Prague itinerary

Is 2 days enough in Prague?

Yes. Days 1 and 2 above cover the Old Town, Josefov, the Charles Bridge and the castle.

Should I do Kutná Hora or Český Krumlov?

Kutná Hora is easier, an hour away by train. Český Krumlov is prettier but takes about 3 hours each way, and is better with an overnight stay.

Can you see Prague in one day?

For a quick taste, yes. Combine the Old Town, the Charles Bridge and the castle grounds, and skip the interiors.
