Quick answer: An Acropolis ticket costs €30 for adults (€15 reduced) all year round in 2026, and every visit needs a timed-entry slot. Book on the official site, hhticket.gr. Non-EU visitors under 18 and EU citizens under 25 enter free with ID, but still need a reservation. The Acropolis Museum is a separate ticket at €20. Go at 8am or in the last slots of the day to avoid the heat and the cruise crowds.

The Acropolis is the most visited site in Greece, and it’s now strictly managed with timed entry. Here’s everything you need to know to book the right ticket and enjoy your visit.

Is there still a combined ticket?

The old multi-site combo ticket covering the Acropolis, the Ancient and Roman Agoras, Hadrian’s Library, Kerameikos, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Aristotle’s Lyceum has been withdrawn, according to Athens Tourism. Each site is now ticketed separately. Check hhticket.gr for current options before you go, because ticket products change.

Tips for visiting

  • Enter by the south slope (near the Acropolis Museum and Akropoli metro station) to see the Theatre of Dionysus on your way up. The main west entrance is busier.
  • Wear shoes with grip, because the marble is polished and slippery. Bring water and a hat.
  • There’s no shade at the top. In summer, the 8am slot is by far the best.
  • A guide brings the ruins to life. Compare guided Acropolis tours.
  • Visit the Acropolis Museum afterwards to see the original sculptures. See things to do in Athens.
